Vanishing Prism
Reveal hidden history by refracting light and space, connecting the past and the present.
Background
This project responds to the loss of British colonial architecture in Hong Kong, aiming to preserve its cultural and historical significance. Research highlights the importance of these landmarks in shaping collective memory, identity, and urban character, inspiring a design that reinterprets heritage through immersive, educational, and interactive experiences.
CONCEPT
Vanishing Prism explores how demolished colonial buildings continue to shape memory and identity. Like a prism splitting light, the museum refracts history into multiple perspectives, revealing the fragmented nature of the past and reflecting shifts in power. The Heritage Memory Hub uses light, AR/VR, and exhibitions to refract history into multiple perspectives, inviting visitors to reflect on Hong Kong's past, changing power dynamics , and layered cultural identity.
