Embrace Culture - The Silk Road
Group 1 : The Silk Road
PROJECT BACKGROUND
The Silk Road was a significant trade route connecting ancient China and the Eurasia continent in the old days. Its history could be traced back to the Han Dynasty and it flourished at its peak during the Tang and Song Dynasties. The route started in Chang’ an, China and ended in Rome, Europe, passing through Central Asia’s Tarim Basin, Persia, India, Arabia and other places. The main commodities traded along the Road varied, from Chinese silk, porcelain, tea, as well as horses, pearls, ivory, spices, coral, and jewelry. The emergence of the Silk Road not just promoted economic exchanges between China and various countries in Eurasia, but also facilitated interactions in culture, religion, and technology, leaving a lasting impact on an important period in Chinese history.
