Look Up to Parkour on Rooftop
PROJECT BACKGROUND
This project aims to help with the development of Parkour discipline in Hong Kong, by designing a public space where Parkour can take place and be showcased to society. With this designed venue, the public are encouraged to engage with the Parkour community to help raising understanding and acceptance on this extreme sport in Hong Kong.
The design concept is to transform a Tong Lau building cluster into a gigantic monkey frame. Spaces and forms are designed to allow people to make use of them and to perform Parkour moves. Inspired by the Brutalist architecture style, the application of concrete hints at a more tactile interaction between people and the building.
