"Symbiotic Courtyard" is an elderly-centric architectural intervention in To Kwa Wan, Hong Kong, reimagining traditional Hakka Tulou enclosed courtyard for high-density urban contexts. The design strategically layers social and ecological functions: a ground-level central courtyard acts as the community catalyst for daily interactions, while bamboo-framed vertical greenery ascending to rooftop gardens forms a living skin that merges architecture with nature. this project establishes a culturally resonant and ecologically sustainable living environment for elderly communities in high-density urban areas.
