Swap & Roll (1)

Share toys, share memories.

Background

This project addresses Hong Kong's escalating toy waste crisis, which is fueled by a plastic-intensive industry and a lack of consumer awareness about the issue. Grounded in various research, it reveals how hedonic adaptation influences parental purchasing patterns, the complexities of toy disposal, and the potential of a circular sharing economy to extend toy lifecycles, reduce waste, and foster positive values in children.

CONCEPT

Swap & Roll is a toy-sharing system that features an app for reserving or entering shared toy information, as well as a physical sharing corner for picking up or dropping off toys, designed for parents and children aged 0-8. It promotes sustainable toy donation and reservation through a vibrant and playful interface with engaging features, such as the capsule machine's random toy selection, AR technology-driven farewells to the toys, and a memory scrapbook.
