The waterlight and shadow
Background
The design draws inspiration from the vivid projection lights found beneath tenement buildings, where the boundaries between public and private spaces become beautifully blurred. By incorporating water elements, the design aims to address this dynamic. Water serves as a cultural symbol of Kowloon City, reflecting traditions like the Water Festival. Through the refraction of light by water, the project creates distinct areas for both staying and walking. The walking paths, shaped by the movement of water, produce curved patterns of light and shadow, mirroring the routes taken by citizens as they navigate the streets of Kowloon City, weaving through the vibrant crowds. This interplay of light and water not only enhances the visual experience but also fosters a deeper connection to the community's cultural heritage.
