Bridging the Waterfront Promenades for a Complete Kowloon Coastline
Background
The connection between the Tsim Sha Tsui and Hung Hom waterfront promenades is essential to completing the Kowloon coastline, enabling visitors to stroll to Kai Tak Sports Park. Historically, Hung Hom served as a cargo terminal for building materials, but its accessibility diminished due to pollution after the area's development. This has left the promenades disconnected, resulting in an incomplete coastal experience for visitors.
CONCEPT
Inspired by Hung Hom's rich musical heritage, particularly from the Hong Kong Coliseum, My design reflects the essence of music through visual elements. The site embodies a quarter note from musical notation, with connecting lines in sheet music influencing the bridge's design. This approach not only enhances the aesthetic appeal but also fosters a sense of cultural continuity, inviting visitors to explore and enjoy the waterfront while celebrating the area's vibrant history.
