Chill and Easy Flood Alerts

Enhance local young residents' awareness of water gauge and flood warnings.

Background

Hong Kong experiences storm surges every year from July to September, during which strong winds and earthquakes pose significant risks to low-lying areas, possibly leading to flooding and casualties. To address this pressing issue, the Observatory recognizes the importance of community, especially youth, engagement. They called on students to get creative and design mascots to represent tsunamis and earthquakes, as well as create interactive murals. These measures aim to increase awareness of water levels among coastal residents and promote their correct use.

In addition, a comprehensive set of promotional materials is needed to increase understanding of flood warnings among young people in coastal areas. The Observatory has established the slogan "遠離岸邊, 逃往高處" to reinforce the message of safety and preparedness. By combining education with creative expression, the initiative aims to empower communities to take proactive steps to protect their lives and property from the effects of natural disasters.

CONCEPT

Since young local residents lack awareness of the water gauge, they need to be educated on how to use the water gauge. At the same time, earthquake and tsunami mascots are used as publicity, so that the information can be conveyed in a more humorous and eye-catching form, so that people will not resist receiving weather knowledge. Among them, the relationship between the mascots is a combination of disgust, and the mischievous personalities highlight the extreme weather characteristics. At the same time, the booth games are accompanied by interesting illustrations and stories to raise people's awareness of "遠離岸邊, 逃往高處".
