Bodies Laid Before Gods

Background

Final Year Project

Modern inequality mirrors ancient sacrifices—the powerless are still exploited. Children once bled to please the Rain God; today, the vulnerable suffer under systemic neglect. The homeless face scorn, not compassion, while the powerful uphold oppressive hierarchies. Ritualized cruelty has merely evolved: blades became policies, altars turned into boardrooms. Society condemns barbarism yet perpetuates its logic, sacrificing the marginalized to greed. The cries go unheard, the injustice unchanged—only the methods have refined.

CONCEPT

I crafted a patchwork using ethnic-patterned ribbons to evoke a sense of heaviness, akin to being bound by shackles. The varied panels symbolize the chaotic forms created when slaves were forced off altars, colliding with stairs.
