Diploma of Vocational Education (Jewellery Design and Technology)

Final Project Study
Design a line of themed jewelry for Ocean Park that can be sold within the park.
Project studies provide students with the opportunity to put theory into practice. First, students will gain firsthand knowledge of Ocean Park's philosophy, brand image, ecological conservation, and social responsibility through field visits and interviews. To enhance student engagement and interest, students can choose a suitable conservation theme for their project study. Once they have chosen a suitable theme, they will research online (e.g., using Google Search or Pintrest) and proceed through a series of design processes, including mind mapping, moodboard, design development diagram, metal model, etc. After completing the metal model, students need to systematically record the production process and materials used to calculate the cost and suggested selling price. Students need to complete two types of jewelry models for the same design: the first type is "customized" - a unique jewelry design, and the second type is "mass market" - a jewelry design that can be sold as a souvenir. To effectively sell the second type of "mass market" products, students need to understand the spending amount, age, product safety and other information of tourists to determine the selling price, reflect on the design, and prepare a presentation to promote it to Ocean Park management.
