Discovery Hub - Foster Youth Centre

Form & Space Design

创作背景

The final-year project is envisioned to serve those in need within the community, focusing on a residential design for foster youth—a vulnerable and often overlooked population.

Through research, a significant flaw in the current foster care system was identified: the government's reliance on increasing monetary compensations to raise incentives for fostering, which can lead to corrupt practices and further risk of abuse for foster youth. Additionally, foster parents frequently experience burnout, resulting in their withdrawal from foster care services. The design aims to increase the number and safety of foster homes while fostering a supportive network among those involved in the foster care system.

Upon completion, the design is expected to accommodate around 300 foster youths, providing a space where they can support, monitor, and share the ups and downs of their foster journeys together.
