Turbulence
Background
The project is to create 10 sculptures that represent Hong Kong sport’s glory and will be produced and exhibit in the future Kai Tak Sports park. We chose 10 movements to represent the highest achievements in Hong Kong sport’s history including running, table tennis, rugby, windsurfing, horsing, football, bowling, swimming, fencing and cycling to present the glory of athletes.
CONCEPT
When a plane takes off, it creates wake turbulence visible through billowing dust. Similarly, athletes generate a flow from their speed. Inspired by this turbulence and Chinese ink painting brush storke, our concept represents the speed of sports, honors past achievements, and highlights the history of the Kowloon city area for future generations.
