Sanctuary
Return to the cocoon and feel the past
Background
Yim Tin Tze is a unique island with a rich history and culture. The Hakka people lived in isolation due to limited transportation, while Catholic missionaries provided support. Today, it is like a sanctuary with a religious atmosphere, and the island's abandoned years allowed for the growth of diverse wildlife, including the Delias Pasithoe butterfly.
CONCEPT
"Sanctuary" is a timber pavilion on Yim Tin Tze island, inspired by its history and creatures. It symbolizes the cocoon-like environment that shaped the lives of the Hakka and Catholic communities. Serving as a time capsule, it transports visitors back in time, immersing them in the island's sacred atmosphere.
