Background
Both Chinese ink wash painting and Renaissance art share a rich historical background. Essentially, the theme of " Rebirth " serves as a unifying element, illuminating the spirit of these artistic traditions. The realisation and exploitation of the highest spiritual level leads people to enjoy actual freedom and wisdom. The insights from research on the unreachable spiritual level combine the great waves, which are both powerful and free.
CONCEPT
The theme of this dress is ‘Rebirth’, merging the significant elements inspired by Renaissance art and Chinese ink wash painting. The design aspires to combine these two artistic styles. The inner layer showcases a meticulous Fresco of Angels pattern on lycra fabric, symbolizing celestial beauty and spiritual rejuvenation. As for the outer layer, it is a draped silk organza dress adorned with patterned ruffles that represent the brushstrokes seen in Chinese ink wash paintings. These ruffles also symbolise the contours of mountains and the essence of nature, creating a unique and visually captivating representation of rebirth. My design concept is creating a character who is powerful and wise being an elegant human being. The context of image is presenting the god or master that has reached the status of relief. The visual concept includes wavy lines and an amount of blank space. The colours are based on the great waves painting, presenting the freedom and elegance of the image.
