Love and Bound

The constraints brought by marriage. A combination of Tang Dynasty makeup and American makeup. A woman's life is bound by marriage.

Background

The expectations of gender roles in marriage are closely related to cultural backgrounds, values, and traditional beliefs. Women are often expected to play specific roles as wives, mothers, or caregivers of the family. These constraints always limit women’s freedom and independence, making it difficult for them to pursue personal and career goals and express their opinions and needs freely. This phenomenon exists globally. Love and bound are two interconnected yet distinct concepts. Love is free, caring, and supportive, while bound involves restrictions and control over others. In healthy romantic relationships, we should respect each other's freedom and build on equality and mutual respect as the foundation.

CONCEPT

My design concept aims to present the current situation of women in marriage and encourage them to prioritize re-value their opinions and needs, breaking free from the constraints of marriage. It My work also seeks to inspire people to reflect on gender role expectations in marriage and promote societal awareness and advocacy for issues related to respecting women's rights, autonomy, and gender equality. The design concept is inspired by unhappily married women who are unable to escape due to the constraints of concern and responsibility. They are bound by the red thread of love, gradually suffocating, and accompanied by domestic violence, resulting in physical and psychological trauma.
