Recently, Hongkongers might emigrate due to the lack of belonging, political factors, education, and prospects. Paradoxically, data reveals that those who care deeply about Hong Kong are more inclined to leave. The sense of belonging stems from collective memory, including cultural symbols and geography. Unfortunately, certain aspects of Hong Kong's culture, like neon lights and iconic heritages, are currently fading.
CONCEPT
This Home Away from Home blind box series are inspired by Hong Kong. It encapsulates the concept of taking away and feeling at home, allowing one to experience the warmth of home regardless of their location. The series consist of a collection of magnets and 3D cards with Hong Kong-style ceramic tiles as the design element. Upon opening, you can appreciate various iconic Hong Kong architecture and lifestyle scenes intricately intertwined with distinctive illustrations and structural cutouts. The designs also incorporate references to local films, adding a collectible touch to each piece.
