Bauhinia Bay

Bringing a sustainable and hydrophilic waterfront experience

Background

The project site is situated in Wan Chai Waterfront, near the Wai Chai Ferry Pier, and is a part of the Wan Chai Development Phase II. The primary objective of Wan Chai Development Phase II is to allocate land in Wan Chai North and North Point for the construction of the Central - Wan Chai Bypass and Island Eastern Corridor Link. The land created as a result of this project will be transformed into a waterfront promenade, seamlessly connecting with the new Central waterfront. This development aims to provide a delightful public space for people to enjoy.

CONCEPT

The Bauhinia flower holds great significance in Hong Kong as its city flower. Located near the Golden Bauhinia Square in Wan Chai waterfront, Bauhinia Bay incorporates the petals of the Bauhinia flower as both a design element and a functional partition. In addition, 'Bauhinia Bay' features movable floating islands that enhance the water-friendly and hydrophilic nature of the Wan Chai waterfront. These islands serve as an ideal gathering point for families, friends, and tourists alike, providing a picturesque and inviting space for everyone to enjoy.
