Background

The purpose of this theme is to raise public awareness and emphasize the importance of marine conservation. The deep sea is one of the most mysterious and unknown realms on Earth, hiding countless rare and precious organisms as well as fragile ecosystems. However, human activities have caused serious damage to the deep-sea environment, and we urgently need to draw more attention and spur people to take action.

CONCEPT

Precious marine resources are disappearing at an alarming rate, which will have serious consequences for human society. This design aims to emphasize the importance of taking action to protect the ocean. Arousing the public's sense of social responsibility through emotional visual elements and interactive experiences aims to inspire practical conservation efforts and enable viewers to actively participate in the mission of protecting this precious resource.

The giant panda, a national treasure of China, has captivated many visitors with its adorable and cuddly appearance, making it a classic attraction to visit at the zoo. From a young age, whenever I visit Ocean Park, the first thing I do is to see the cute giant pandas. However, I later learned that due to excessive deforestation by humans, the giant pandas in the wild are facing the threat of continuous habitat loss, making them an endangered species. Through the design of these two pieces of jewelry featuring the cute and lazy demeanor of the giant panda, I hope to arouse people's interest and desire to protect them, and encourage people to voluntarily understand the survival challenges faced by the giant pandas.
Penguins mainly live in the Southern Hemisphere, but due to the impact of climate change, the melting of Antarctic glaciers has destroyed their habitats, making them an endangered species. If global warming continues to worsen, penguins may even face the risk of extinction. This deeply saddens me. Therefore, through this project, I designed a brooch of a penguin ice skating on a glacier and a ring of a penguin swimming, hoping to convey the inherent value and uniqueness of penguins through these designs, and to remind everyone to pay more attention to the threats faced by penguins, so that one day in the future, we won't only be able to see them on these jewelry pieces.
The Arctic fox comes from the Scandinavian peninsula and used to live a free and unbound life, but human greed and cruelty have led to the overhunting and captive breeding of these beautiful fur-bearing animals, making the Arctic fox an endangered species that is now protected by various conservation organizations, including Ocean Park. However, if humans could restrain their greed and cruelty, the Arctic fox would not have to lose its freedom and be confined in captivity. Therefore, I chose to simulate the form of the Arctic fox hunting in the snow to create this pendant, hoping that one day we can see the Arctic fox in the real world no longer persecuted by humans, and able to survive freely like this pendant.
I remember when I was young, I thought the red panda would grow up to become a giant panda. It wasn't until my first visit to Ocean Park and the explanation from the red panda caretaker that I learned the two "pandas" are not the same species, and that the red panda is actually an endangered species. Due to the demand for its fur and meat, the wild red pandas are facing the threat of illegal poaching. Additionally, human activities such as land development and deforestation have destroyed the red panda's habitat. In this project, I designed this pendant and ring based on the cute and adorable appearance of the red panda, hoping to awaken people's awareness to protect the red panda and help conserve the wild population.
Although sharks are often viewed as the most ferocious predators in the ocean, and most people fear them due to the attacks on humans, the reality is that due to the excessive demand for shark fins, shark meat, and shark skin, one-third of shark species are now facing the threat of extinction. That's why I chose the shark as my theme, to understand that it's not just the beautiful or weak animals that are in danger of extinction - even the mighty shark is also under threat. I hope my work can help people understand and pay more attention to the ecology of sharks and the crises they face, and join together to say no to shark fin.
The Chinese white dolphin is a cute and friendly endangered marine animal facing survival threats. The pollution in our local waters is slowly eating away at the homes of these intelligent marine creatures, affecting their growth. Through this creation, I hope to raise public awareness of the conservation of the Chinese white dolphin and its habitat. The dolphin's adorable appearance and humanized behavior will surely arouse people's interest and empathy. At the same time, I have incorporated coral as a complementary element to remind people that the importance of protecting the ecological environment is self-evident - we must work together to prevent more endangered species and fragile marine ecosystems from being destroyed.
