Enhancing ecological interaction and understanding by innovating publications and product desigsn
Background
Hong Kong's country parks are dedicated to conserving the natural environment and promoting outdoor education. However, recent statistics show a decline in public understanding of ecology, fewer park visits, and limited knowledge about their ecological significance. To address these issues, a strategy called the "Ecological Exploration Campaign" was proposed to enhance public awareness of ecology, local plants, and country parks.
CONCEPT
Eight products were created to promote native plants in Hong Kong. The Explorer DIY Kit includes a guidebook, binoculars, a magnifying glass and a compass, allowing parents to take their children on plant exploration adventures. Besides, the Plant Pressing Kit comes with a cloth bag and dried plant specimens, providing a sensory experience of nature's beauty. Other products available are plant field guides, interactive maps, stickers, picnic mats, information boards and posters.
