Chinese Characters Crossover - Qu Yuan
PROJECT BACKGROUND
”This project is to design Chinese historical figures in unique styles and create models for 3D model printing. The objective of the project is to represent the re-created stories with 3D model printings. 5 characters, namely Qiu Jin, Du Fu, Qu Yuan, Sima Qian, and Xin QiJi, were selected by the Chinese History Education Centre. The styles adapted included Fairy Tale, Magic World, Deep Sea Reborn, Steampunk, and Cyberpunk. In the alternative universal plot, the background story of each character was based on Chinese history.
PROJECT CONCEPT
”The story sets in a world where there was a new breed called the Deep-sea race. Their culture and lifestyle are similar to that of Chinese at that time. It began when Qu Yuan committed suicide after knowing that he had no hope for his country. He was resurrected by the deep-sea creatures and was hired as a government official, just like what he did before. However, similar to the State of Chu, the deep-sea creatures also refused to accept Qu Yuan’s advices. Qu Yuan had to accept the fate of losing a country again.”
